Christian Bonaud, a French Islamologist, converted to Islam simultaneously with the culmination of the Islamic revolution. Shortly afterwards, by studying the works of the late Allameh Tabatabai and Martyr Motahhari, he accepted Shia Islam and changed his name to Yahya Alawi. To write his PHD thesis on “Mystical thoughts of Imam Khomeini”, he used the course of Seyyed Jalaluddin Ashtiani, and this provided him the theme for his proximity to the shrine of Imam Reza (a.s.) until the end of his life. Yahya Alawi passed away in a Marine accident in 2019 when he traveled to the Ivory Coast to preach in Muharram. May Allah Bless Him and Those who are the Followers of the Truth and the Straight Path.
